【5年级春节英语作文(作文800字)】The Spring Festival is the most important holiday in China. It usually comes in January or February every year. This year, I had a very happy and unforgettable Spring Festival.
Before the festival, my family and I cleaned our house carefully. We washed the windows, swept the floor, and put up red couplets on the doors. My mother said that cleaning the house would bring good luck for the new year. I also helped her cook some traditional Chinese food, like dumplings and rice cakes. The smell of the food made me very hungry.
On the eve of the Spring Festival, my family gathered together to have a big dinner. We ate a lot of delicious dishes, such as fish, meat, and vegetables. After dinner, we watched the Spring Festival Gala on TV. It was very interesting and made us all laugh a lot. Then, I went to bed early because I wanted to wake up early on the first day of the new year.
On the first day of the new year, I wore new clothes and got lucky money from my grandparents. They gave me red envelopes with money inside. I felt very happy and excited. My parents told me that the red envelope symbolizes good luck and happiness. In the morning, I went out with my parents to visit our relatives and friends. We said “Happy New Year” to each other and had some snacks.
In the evening, there were fireworks in the sky. The colorful lights made the night beautiful. I watched them with my family and felt very proud to be Chinese. I learned a lot about the traditions and culture of the Spring Festival this year.
I think the Spring Festival is not only a time to celebrate, but also a time to spend with family and friends. I hope I can have another wonderful Spring Festival next year.
